Sosua, a beach town in the Dominican Republic, is a place like no other. Perhaps it is most famous for its dating, nightlife, and party scene. However, after spending several days in Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, I visited Sosua to check out the local tennis scene.

International Tennis Center at Ocean Village

There is one primary tennis club in Sosua, named the International Tennis Center, which is located in the Sosua Ocean Village residential community. Although the Ocean Village residences are private and guarded by security, the on-site tennis club welcomes outside visitors seeking to play tennis or pickleball.

The International Tennis Center in Sosua has four red clay courts that are well-maintained by the staff. Don’t be fooled by the picture below if the clay courts appear messy. These courts had just been watered, which is a necessary procedure. Clay courts need consistent moisture to ensure an ideal playing surface, and the courts at the International Tennis Center receive consistent maintenance.

They have four very well-maintained clay tennis courts at the International Tennis Center. I was impressed!

The International Tennis Center in Sosua has a decent pro shop where you can buy anything you need to play tennis, including tennis racquets, strings, balls, and grips. You can also rent tennis racquets, and they provide racquet re-stringing services.

They also have a good team of tennis teaching professionals and hitting partners for hire. I also noticed that they advertise for pickleball, although I didn’t see any pickleball courts set up when I visited.

Where To Stay In Sosua

After spending a week in Sosua, I was very pleased with my hotel – Las Palmeras Hotel (link to book on Agoda), located in the heart of Sosua, next to Dr. Rosen and Pedro Clisante streets. FYI – this area is in the center of the nightlife and partying part of Sosua, so if you’re not interested in that, it may not be the best for a family environment.

The buffalo chicken sliders dish at Wings & Waffle was so delicious.

On site of the Las Palmeras Hotel is one of the best restaurants in Sosua: Wings and Waffle. The food was so good that I ate there twice a day!

By the way, I play tennis with Rafael Nadal’s racquet, which is available on Amazon – Babolat Pure Aero Rafa OriginTennis Racquet.
