One thing I’ve noticed over my travels around the world is the spread of joy and passion for pickleball. And now, that extends to Laos, a landlocked country in Southeast Asia that borders China, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. In Laos, I was shocked when I stumbled upon a large pickleball facility in Vientiane, the capital city.
In Laos, there are two main facilities for playing pickleball. The first is Pickleball Vientiane. It has six pickleball courts, including lights for nighttime play, and is suitable for large groups of people. Another very popular facility, MITS Pickleball, located at Le Society Cafe, has four or more temporary courts set up and broken down after play. There’s also a tennis facility, Anothai Sporting Club, that has adopted pickleball.
To find players, popular times for playing, and prices, it is best to join and ask one of the local Laos pickleball groups on Facebook: Lao Pickleball Federation.

Pickleball Vientiane Sports Complex
Pickleball Vientiane’s facility amazed me when I stumbled upon it. They have six pickleball courts that all have permanent lines painted, as well as lights available for nighttime play. According to their Facebook page, which has over 10k followers, they also have regularly occurring pickleball socials and lessons available.

Pickleball Vientiane (name on Google Maps) is located at the same sports complex as Champahuk Sport Center and Tavan Football Stadium.

MITS Pickleball (Le Society Sports Lounge & Cafe)
Another pickleball facility worth checking out is MITS Pickleball, located at Le Society Sports Lounge & Cafe. They usually have four to six temporary pickleball courts set up on a tennis court by makeshifting lines with thin rubber mat lines.
This club is very popular for pickleball because of the Le Society Sports Lounge and Cafe’s great vibe. You can get food and drinks there while resting between pickleball games.

Where To Stay In Vientiane
I was very impressed with my stay at the Sunset Mekong Apartment, which is also available for short bookings. It is located in the popular area of town, close to the night market and restaurants, and on the Mekong River. In fact, across the river, you can easily see Thailand.
My Favorite Things To Do In Laos
I booked one of my favorite tours of my life in Luang Prabang, Laos. The tour included a sunset ride down the Mekong River, visiting the Pak Ou caves, and swimming in the Kuang Si waterfalls. It also provided lunch at an elephant sanctuary where we got to briefly hangout and feed the elephants. To see this tour, check it out here on Viator: 1 DAY Mekong Cruise to Pak Ou Caves.
