Welcome to Primal Tennis.
I travel the world telling stories of tennis at the grassroots — local clubs, players, and communities in inner cities and small towns most people never see. This is tennis in its rawest form: the people, the places, the love of the game, no borders required.
I’ve been playing since 2002, when I fell in love with the sport at 13. I’ve worked nearly every job tennis has to offer — instruction, court maintenance, pro shop, tournament facilitating, stringing — and played college tennis at Charleston Southern University. I’m currently a 5.0 player, but I’ve learned that almost anyone will play with you if you bring a smile, a racquet, and a can of balls, no matter the level.
I’m also working toward getting racquets into the hands of disadvantaged youth, because I know firsthand how much a racquet can change a life.
If you’re a traveling player, you’ll also find city and country guides here to help you find a court wherever you land.
Thanks for being here. I hope to see you out on the court.
